Texas State, UTEP Schedule Home-And-Home Series’

San Marcos, TX – Texas State and UTEP will play a two-game, home-and-home series in 2028 and 2031 as Texas State Director of Athletics Don Coryell and UTEP Director of Athletics Jim Senter announced the series on Wednesday. The series is slated to begin on Sept. 16, 2028, when Texas State travels to El Paso. The Bobcats will then host the Miners in San Marcos on Sept. 27, 2031. When the two programs meet on the gridiron in 2028, the contest will mark the first-ever football game between Texas State and UTEP.

Both the 2028 and 2031 games against UTEP will be the second in-state opponent scheduled so far for Texas State in those seasons. The Bobcats will face UTSA in San Marcos in 2028 and San Antonio in 2031.

Including the current campaign, Texas State is scheduled to play several in-state opponents over the coming seasons, including Baylor (2022, 2023), Houston Baptist (2022), UTSA (2024-31), Lamar (2024), Texas (2026), North Texas (2026, 2030) and UTEP (2028, 2031).

Texas State, in the midst of preseason practice, opens this season on Sept. 3 at Nevada. The home opener is set for Sept. 10 against FIU at Bobcat Stadium.
