I’m watching. Is Chase Hildreth still at TXST? Didn’t see him on the current roster. I didn’t know if walk-ons are given numbers or listed on the roster.

Supposedly we have one of their qbs who threw for 46% against juco defenses, had an identical TD:INT ratio as Vitt though we all know that the majority of Vitt's picks came in one game. What I do like about Hildreth that disgusted me about Jones iii is that he had ZERO fumbles. I can't trace exactly how many fumbles Jones had be it a bobbled snap or running with a loaf of bread because of how our stats are setup so I can only see that our team had 11 fumbles but I think it's safe to say that at least 7-8 of those were from Jones either directly or indirectly be it a bad handoff. What we do need to change this season that I saw while looking at this was that we allowed the opposing teams to recover 40% of their fumbles, we get that number down under 20% by swarming the backfield and playing smart football by being aggressive/falling on the ball I'll be happy.
For the obvious record I'd much rather have Vitt's downfield picks because he's trying to stretch the field or beat the secondary deep than Jones' fumbles in the backfield because he had terrible ball security, vision, timing and what seemed like slow release. What I don't want to see this season is picks thrown in the flats via 'telegraphed' predictable screen passes which Fran and Withers were notorious for and ended up as pick 6s or returns deep in our own territory. If we can get rid of the picks on short or negative passes I think we will already see marked improvements with Spav's gameplan.
