Last night's post-game press release:

Dickson's pivotal production helps Texas State outlast Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Placed into the starting lineup for just the third time this season, sophomore guard Sierra Dickson was instrumental in Texas State bouncing back from a bumpy fourth quarter to beat Little Rock, 69-65, in triple overtime.

In the early stages of the nearly three-hour game, Dickson was one of four different Bobcat student-athletes to be credited with an assist when Da'Nasia Hood opened the game by scoring Texas State's first 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting. Dickson later joined the scoring column, too, when she took one of Kennedy Taylor's game-high 10 assists and then put the basketball through the net. The layup gave the Bobcats' its largest lead of the game at 19 with 6:34 remaining in the third.

However, there was no bigger play by the 5-foot-7 guard then, with less than five seconds remaining in the first overtime period, Dickson stole the ball from Little Rock's Angelique Francis, who rebounded a potential go-ahead layup from Kennedy Taylor, then laid the ball up herself to tie the game at 57-57 with 1.1 seconds left in the period.

Dickson went on to all but put the game away during the third extra five-minute period when she converted a free throw attempt to extend Texas State's lead to four with 24.4 seconds left.

FROM HEAD COACH ZENARAE ANTOINE

"I thought the most impressive thing from today's game was how our team continued to battle. It's been a tough road. We have four teammates who can't travel with us, so we only have four guards. We have several young women who are playing through a lot going on with their bodies. We had multiple big-time plays that really helped us. Sierra Dickson, just a young sophomore, stepping into a starting role for us and I thought her play today was huge for us. I thought we can countless student-athletes step in and contribute in different ways whether it be a big rebound or finishing a play."

Press Release preview for tomorrow's game:
Bobcats look to clamp down on league's top-scoring offense at Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. — On the heels of its triple-overtime win at Little Rock on Thursday morning, the Texas State women's basketball program will conclude its two-game road swing through Arkansas with a Saturday afternoon contest at Arkansas State.

The game, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT, will be broadcasted on ESPN+ with Will Oswalt (play by play) and Carol Halford (analyst) on the call.

LOOKING AT THE BOBCATS

Since Sun Belt Conference play began for Texas State at ULM on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, senior forward Da'Nasia Hood has increased her points per game average more than 5.0 points. Hood headed into the Bobcats' conference-opening game averaging 12.1 points and will enter Saturday afternoon's game at Arkansas State averaging 17.3 points a game.

Texas State senior guard Kennedy Taylor is the only women's basketball student-athlete in the Sun Belt Conference to be credited with multiple 10-assist games in conference-only games. Taylor has three such games this season: season-high 12 assists vs. UTA (1/22/22) and a pair of 10-assist games (at Georgia State, 1/15/22; at Little Rock, 1/27/22).

In conference-only games, Da'Nasia Hood is averaging a league-leading 23.9 points per game. In eight Sun Belt games this season, Hood has scored a conference-leading 191 points on a conference-high 79 field goals, 13 3-pointers and 20 free throws. Hood has scored 19-or-more points in every conference game this season and has even surpassed the 30-point mark on two separate occasions. Hood is the only women's basketball student-athlete in the Sun Belt Conference to score 30-or-more points multiple times against a league foe. She scored a career-high 32 points on 13-of-16 shooting at Georgia Southern (Jan. 13, 2022) and then scored 30 on 12-of-20 shooting at Little Rock (Jan. 27, 2022).

SCOUTING THE RED WOLVES

Last time out, Morgan Wallace became the first Arkansas State women's basketball student-athlete in 16 years to be credited with a triple-double when she accomplished the feat against UTA on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022. Wallace, who is the first women's basketball student-athlete in the league to do so, finished the game with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Following its game Thursday night, Arkansas State remains one of just three women's basketball teams in the Sun Belt Conference to average 80-or-more points a game. The Red Wolves will enter Saturday's contest against the Bobcats scoring 80.4 points a game. Through 20 games this season, Arkansas State has totaled 1,608 points, which is the second-most in the league behind Troy's 1,769. In conference-only games, however, the Red Wolves are the top-scoring offense with an 82.3 points per game mark.

On the other end of the court, though, Arkansas State allows the most points in both overall and conference-only games. In seven games against Sun Belt teams this season, the Red Wolves are allowing an average of 78.3 points per game, which is 2.8 points more than ULM, which is the next closest team.
