TXST (11-5/3-1) @ ULL (9-4/3-1)

The most notable datapoint going into this match is the common opponents played this year: Bama and ACU in the TCU Tournament. While we played terrible and got swept by the Crimson Tide, ULL in turn swept them, and rather easily: 12-19-17. Where ACU took us to 5 after we were up 2-0, they got S1 from the Cajuns and then took a beating 12-13-21 in the next 3 sets. The Cajuns beat us at home last year as well, so there is no mystery about whether or not it can be done. Even their losses this year look decent - 5S L to 10-6 Michigan State, 4S L to 10-6 aTm, 4S L to 16-4 UTRGV.

7 of the 9 players in their main rotation are from TX. While #6 is their main hitter w/ 190pts vs 109 for #12, they have a lot of balance between their #2-#7 scorers at 89-109.

Not tall at all - but JMU wasn't either.... 6', 6', 5'11", 6'1", 5'8", 6', 5'10", 6', 5'8" (S)

  • Texas State will enter this weekend's two-match series at Louisiana with a 22-3 all-time record against the Ragin' Cajuns dating back to the first-ever meeting during the 1973 season.
  • Under third-year head coach Sean Huiet, Texas State is 4-1 against Louisiana with all four wins coming in Lafayette, La.
    • Of those four road wins, two were via three-sets wins, one came in four sets and the other in five.
  1. Comforts of Home: The Ragin' Cajuns extended their home court winning streak to three matches after sweeping last week's Sun Belt series with Arkansas State. Louisiana is 4-1 at Earl K. Long Gym, averaging 13.4 kills and 2.3 blocks per set on its home court.
  2. Must-See Volleyball: The Louisiana-Texas State series at Earl K. Long Gym features two of the Sun Belt West Division's current co-leaders. Both teams are seeking to keep their respective position in the standings, and keep pace with South Alabama.
  3. Don't Leave Your Seat: Eight of the last 10 Ragin' Cajuns-Bobcats outings have lasted at least four sets.
  4. Access Denied: Louisiana is averaging right at 3.0 blocks per set two weeks into Sun Belt Conference play. The Ragin' Cajuns threw up 44 blocks (2.9/set), combined, over the first two weekends of league play – the highest total among all teams.
  5. Making Them Earn It: A streak that's now three-weeks running, Louisiana's defense has held the opposition to a sub-.200 hitting percentage over the last six matches.

Doesn't look like she played at all today. I think she has something nagging, because they gave her a match off vs ULM 2wks back too.

33-31 S3, TXST sweeps 3-0

Nice fight to come back and win that 3rd!
