That's about as independent as independent baseball leagues get.

It's a summer collegiate team. They play to try to get to the NBC World Series. I played in this league.

Former players include Satchel Paige, Mark Mcgwire, Ozzie Smith, Roger Clemons.
It is stout baseball and some of the best players in the world

The staff seemed to recruit Patino and Thompson to not have Pena play and Pena didn’t start a couple games early in the season until he forced his way in the lineup (and others played their way out). Not too surprised he’s moving on.
