2024 Baseball Sun Belt conference

Imagine going 0-3 in games with bats and balls against the armpit of the south in the same day and both seasons crashed and burned. Within 4 hours we’re become the laughing stock of the sports we used to be able to hang our hats on.
Yea, it sucks.
I’d have to say I miss last year and definitely the year before.
It seems Arkansas state figured out we can only win on Tuesdays and Sundays and took the Sunday opportunity away from us moving Sunday up to Saturday and double header last night.

Hell yes. Been checking in on it periodically and just saw up 9-0.

pena is good but is not jose gonzalez
powell is serviceable but would not see the lineup at all if shuffield was around
rameriz is good but hes not justin thompson
mora has more raw talent than gibbons but the production hasnt been there every game
farber is better than mcclain
weil is better than oretega jones
galloway and collier are not peyton lewis
lets recruit some guys who compete at a high level in conference

Helluva win tonight by our Bobcats with 18 runs scored on 15 hits! Hopefully we'll sweep Old Dominion out of town to restore a winning record on the season. Got tickets to take the whole family to game 3 on Sunday. Can't wait!

you realize youre probably better off betting the farm on texas to make it to omaha right than for that to happen? nobody has any faith in trout finishing out conference 7-1 to get a wining conference record and pass hotlanta state for the #10 seed
I meant overall winning record. We're 23-24 now so a sweep would take us to 25-24. Didn't say anything about conference record. It might be a down year but I'm still trying to find some positives for this team as we head down the final stretch. Next weekend is a home series too so we'll see what happens. Thanks

LOL. Yep. Of course I get that email 20 minutes after my initial post and my oldest daughter has a softball game late afternoon today. That's why we bought tickets to Sunday in the first place. My Dad was supposed to come too so we were going to be rolling three generations deep at the ballpark. Major bummer! I guess I'll be exchanging them for a game in the Troy series next weekend instead.
Good win in the first game today. ODU series clinched! Let's see if we can pull off the sweep now.

The bullpen didn't hold up in the late innings of game 3 with ODU and the furious 9th inning rally came up short (but sure got exciting for a minute there). Our guys still took the series and now sit at 10-14 in conf play, currently 11th. The crazy thing is teams #5-#10 are all between 11-10-1 and 10-13. Just a game or two of separation. It's unlikely, but if this team can go at least 4-2 over the next two series and get some help along the way, we just might have a chance to sneak into the SBC tourney. Baseball is a weird/streaky sport and anything can happen. Eat 'em up, Cats!

You clearly don't like Trout and that's fine, but you're definitely not going to get your wish this year with his extension running through 2027. Also, we were a Top 5 team in SBC last year after the historic season in 2022.
This is a down year for sure but I'd like to see how next year goes before calling it an established trend. It's tough to sustain that kind of success in baseball every year. For now I'm going to hold out faith that this year's team finishes the season strong and next year's team rebounds back to being a top echelon team in the conference again.
If not, then I'll eventually join you in calling for the pitchforks.
