Only team title counts toward the cup.

Women's golf has set us up pretty well to take the cup now, since we gained about 9 points on James Madison, and men's golf will probably do about the same.

If we are within about 15 points of JMU after golf and tennis, we are have a legit chance at a cup

After round one of the NCAA Regional held in Bryan at the Traditions Golf Club the ladies are currently in a T7 and 4 shots out of 5th. The top 5 from each region ear a spot in the NCAA Championships. Hopefully, the jitters will be gone after today and the girls can settle down and have a little better finish tomorrow in round 2 tomorrow.

Ladies are really struggling in Rd. 2 and have dropped 3 spots putting them 13 shots out of the 5th qualifying spot. Just way too many big numbers, doubles and triples. Same issue that plagued them at last years SBC tournament. To steal a saying from my friend Tim Hobby, former HC at Baylor. "The secret to playing good college golf is knowing when to make bogey." Bogeys are fairly easy to make up, but when you make doubles and triples it sure makes it hard to score.

Ladies are in 10th place after 2 rounds at 22 over par after shooting +13 today. Junia Gabasa (Sr.) and Hailey Jones (GS) led the team with even par 72's followed by Fia Lindblom (75) with Yvonne Chamness and Matilda Svahn recording 82's. Jones is currently T17 at +2 and 3 shots out a 10th. Hopefully, they can all put some quality rounds tomorrow to make a good showing. Going to be a very tall order for the team to make up 15 shots and get in the top 5.

The girls wound up in 10th place, 25 shots out of a potential qualifying spot. I know that I sound like a broken record but the double and triple bogeys continue to hold this team back. At a quick glance it looks like they had to count a total of 19 strokes that were a result of double and triple bogeys. Those numbers add up quick. Junia Gabasa (T13) at +2 and Hailey Jones (T17) at +3 had very respectable showings. Those two will be missed next season. It seems consistency in the other 3 spots is what this team needs to improve on. LSU (1st) and SMU (2nd) had three players finish in the top 20. Vanderbilt (4th) had 2. While Clemson (3rd) and A&M (5th) only had one player in the top 20. The Bobcats had 2, they just didn't get the help they needed from the bottom.
