Brown started 28 games over the last 2 seasons at NSU. Definitely a guy that will be coming here looking to compete for a weekend rotation spot.

Looking at adds/losses in the portal definitely looks like we're upgrading.
Sounds like Burke was a high leverage reliever at Texas, so assuming he entered expecting, and we told him, to start. He’s probably in the mix, too. He’s starting for his summer league team.

man how bad are the state of affairs that after so many upper classmen have either graduated or declared for the draft the past 2 seasons that we still have so many underclassmen leaving voluntarily and are desperate enough to get out that they post their personal phone number on twitter for the world to have?

11-20th rounds teams can sign a player for up to 150K and it not effect their pool in ‘23. Tigers have 15,747,200 allotted to their 1-10th round picks (each pick is assigned a value. If teams don’t sign a 1-10 pick they lose that budgeted amount). Any money they have left over signing 1-10 they can use that budget to sign guys they drafted 11-20th >150K. Baseball draft is just a big math equation. Farris can technically sign for any amount but it can be up to 150K and it only affect the owner’s pocket, and more if they sign guy(s) under slot in their 1-10 rounds.

He could also already been talking to them and said I’ll go pro if you give me 100K. Who knows.

Wells slotted for $563K signing. Not bad for 1 day of work. Probably the average base pay of mid to later career posters on this board for 5 years work. Well done, Levi. Doubt he would have gotten anything close to that by staying in Lubbock.

He can still sign for any amount, but the slot bonus is typically a good estimate. Sometimes teams draft a college senior in the top 10 rounds knowing they’ll sign under slot (since they have no leverage of going back to school) then they have more money to maneuver the draft. Or a HS kid needs overslot to sign him away from his college commitment. Think the draft signing bonuses also get paid out in two installments now. But regardless, Wells is signing and getting mid six figures no doubt.

Believe today is the last day you can enter the portal for baseball, unless you are a graduate.

They're desperate to get out so they can actually play somewhere, which none of the guys in the portal other than Ryder Hernandez were doing here.
