It should go without saying but I feel like we need 20 scholarship guys on OL with at least 10 that have 3 more seasons with eligibility. Same with 20 scholarships on DL/DT/DE edge if we want to compete for division titles for the foreseeable future.

There’s two threads with this and 2024 roster, but adding this here since it has the list/numbers. To add what mpf43 stated on Good now being off the roster, the Emmanuel twins are off, Demarquese Hayes and Charles Brown.

Oh wow - I went back through the roster on Friday, double checked everyone, and those guys were still there. Must’ve just happened. I get the feeling those Spav guys were processed, which is unfortunate but probably necessary.

Updated roster to remove Damarius Good, the Emmanuel twins, and DeMarrquese Hayes. We're at 80.
If we are at 80, I'd say (if Finley leaves) we go after another QB (with some college level experience including JC)... That is right another QB with years to play, RB (says he wants 5 last year and we have 4), maybe 2-3 DE (lost 6; signed 3 and 2 are SRs; could easily see them wait to add later in portal or if they find a Landry type), 1-2 WRs (9 on ship now; last season had 11). As we know, its never perfect math so we get 2 DEs... maybe just 1 WR or we find 2 WRs maybe just 2 DEs. All fluid.

Don't stare at the roster too long or you will see a huge over haul in 2025 with huge amounts of OL, DL, DE leaving. This is the biggest negative of transfer signing so much. They just don't stay very long. That 2023 class will mostly be gone (had a lot of transfers to go with the 2024 SR signees) and thus far not much in depth due to the 2023 over haul. It happens but this is what we hopefully can get away from in 2025 with more HS kids signing and yes... still having to go portal to get immediate help (say 15 or so type of guys). Forget any more 25 signing classes, more like 30-35 signing classes due to NIL, portal/PT, or just plain and simple told to look elsewhere. They get paid now so don't think coaches won't trim their rosters to find better players or players they expect to play.

Of the new signees thus far,
Seniors - 8 (to go with seniors to be; 26+8=34 SRs) De Laura, OL Walker, WR J. Williams, DL Merritt, DEs Bass & Parker, LB Neal, CB J. Harris
At this time, the rest doesn't really matter. Just to see how we are definitely built for this coming season.

If they reduce the size of future signing classes or the number of free transfers in the future., we may have an issue for a couple of years to catch back up. Hopefully, they only change the number of free transfers first and later implement a size of signing class restriction.

Free transfers had to be open due to antitrust laws by lawyers suing the NCAA so they had to open it up. All comes from NIL that opened things up and added to transfer portal. Now its just free agency.

We are likely years away from anything the NCAA can do and even the gov't can't really stop it either. Until those lawsuits are decided/resolved, not much can be done.

Imagine the shitshow the nfl would be if every player was a free agent every year. Welcome to the new ncaa.
