Schedule/Probable Pitching Matchup
Tuesday - 6pm
Sr. RHP Trevis Sundgren (2-4, 6.23 ERA) vs. So. RHP Ryan Ward (1-0, 4.50 ERA)
- Sundgren re-enters the rotation after coming out of the bullpen for the last 2 weeks. His last start was a loss to Texas A&M on April 5th. Sundgren's last 3 starts have all been losses (Texas A&M, Sam Houston, Incarnate Word) and he surrendered 11 earned runs over 10 combined innings across those 3 games. He's had a couple good starts on the year (1 run over 7 innings vs. Prairie View, 5 scoreless vs. Wichita State). Hopefully he can get back to that form tonight, though UTSA's lineup is a good one.
- Ward started last week vs. Texas State and only went 1.2 innings so wouldn't expect him to get deep into this game.
47. Texas State (+6)
57. UTSA (-1)
TXST News
- Texas State is coming off a 3-game sweep of Little Rock over the weekend that moved the overall record to 32-9 and the conference record to 15-3. Both are best starts in program history through 41 overall games and 18 conference games. The 9-game winning streak is a season high, surpassing an 8-game streak earlier in the year. It was also our first ever series victory over Little Rock believe it or not.
- Bobcats in the rankings with changes from last week:
- Collegiate Baseball: 7th (+2)
- D1 Baseball: 17th (-)
- Coaches Poll: 18th (-1)
- Baseball America: 19th (+2)
- NCBWA: 20th (-2)
- Perfect Game: N/R
- SS Dalton Shuffield set the program record for career triples over the weekend adding 2 to his tally to give him 12 in his career. For the entire week Shuffield went 10 for 17 at the plate with a 1.632 OPS to be named SBC Player of the Week:
- Texas State scored 30 runs Saturday vs. Little Rock to set a new program record for Sun Belt games. It was 3 shy of the overall program record of 33 runs scored.
- Back-up 2nd baseman Cade Manning hit his first career homer Saturday in the blowout. Other backups Carson Keithley and Kyle Atkinson recorded their first career hits in the game as well.
