Season Tickets

Got this email and noticed that they had 2 additional front row seats next to our existing seats. Ended up adding both onto my account. We now have 5 front row seats in section 102.

Anyone else get season tickets for next season?

I was able to get back to having six seats in section 103. Three years ago I agreed to give up two of my six seats so my neighbors next door would start attending games . They have continued to purchase their two seats and attend games . Neither of this couple attended TXST. I'm really glad I was able to get back to having six seats since I always invite friends/relatives to our home games.

I’m in . . . 2 seats on the dark side.
New Coach, New Attitude? or a continuation of the Train Wreck we’ve all come to know and love?

Either way, I’m compelled to see it in person.

I’ma take the positive view that this’ll be the beginning of the end of a very bad period of football in San Marvelous.

That's a really cool story. I love hearing about how new fans are brought into the fold. We need more of this in our fan base!

Same here. I don't know if it's wishful thinking, but I really hope things are about to change for the better in San Marcos.

Got my two seats in 106. My friend has two. And we have 2 newcomers that have purchased 2 each. One is an alum and one is not. The website says the availability is low in our section.

Sorry, I am not nearly as positive about the season. However, a bad day in San Marcos is better than a good day in "Little California."

I've struggled with the season ticket thing. I don't need them as I get pretty good tickets for free, but I would like to have some just to contribute to the number. I do donate though.

You show up AND donate. That sounds like a pretty good contribution to me.

Unpopular opinion....however this is year two of not donating and not buying season tickets.
Lawrence still thinks that this is just a matter of football wins and losses....
He is convinced that everyone will come back once we start winning in football. Sorry, but not sorry. I'm still holding out my money for the day they announce that Lawrence Teis is relieved of his duties. Then and only then will I give back a windfall of money to my beloved university.

@TXST04 may I recommend putting what you would have spent on tickets and donations into a high yield savings account for when that day comes?

I understand the line of thinking. I considered withholding my money too, but at the end of the day, I'm a small fish and really only donate enough to get what I want out of the deal (pavilion passes, parking passes, front row seats, etc.)

At some point we need to make up a huge disparity in # of donors and amount donated. We're way behind our peers in both metrics and it's going to keep us out of certain conversations at some point. I don't want to be a part of the reason we're left out.

I totally get what you're saying, and the past 2/3 seasons I was right there with you. This is my first season back in a while. We all know that Lawrence didn't fire Withers because he was being "proactive" and looking out for the best interests of Bobcat Football, no Lawrence was looking to save the job of Lawrence, that 's why Withers was shown the door.
To your point about his belief that our fan base will come back once we start winning. . . . wish I could say: "Say it isn't so." But if I'm being totally honest; and based on the history of our fan base, if we win, They will come.
Our fans love to see two things: a big name opponent, and they're starved to see a winner. If Spav wins, they will come. But I applaud your position.

Your opinion is not nearly as unpopular as you think. All I can say is to write a letter to Trauth and let her know why you are leaving.

Me? When I gave up my donations and tickets, I wrote a letter to both Teis and Trauth. Trauth's letter said I'd gladly come back and even double my donation if certain things were done or if Teis was removed (I'll give a new guy a chance to show they get it. Teis has to prove it to me that he finally gets it). The letter to Teis is that my donation is ready and willing to go back if he can start... you know... being a competent AD and being involved with the university.

Didn't get a response. Don't know if they even read it. Can't control that stuff. But I did my part. I'm not asking for my pittance (I was donating I think 2,500/year at that point) to grant me keys to the kingdom or anything. I just wanted to see simple things like... An AD that interacted with fans. Showed some excitement for the university. An advertising approach beyond trying to milk the existing donors. The opportunity to buy Bobcat season tickets as a Christmas gift. That kind of stuff.

And I still hold to that: Fix what's wrong, and I'll come back. Fix it by either getting a new AD or have the existing one be someone that appears that he gives a flip. Not an AD that is a ghost to the players and every fan without a last name of "Fields", who doesn't even know what's going on with press conferences, leaves games early, and avoids social media.

This is year two of no season tickets and year three of no donation. I kind of miss it but have also moved on. It would take a lot for me to come back just because I have different priorities. I doubt I get season tickets again living in Houston, but would start going to a game or two a year. Last game I went to was at Colorado.

I will say that coming from Houston for every game starts to wear on you. Especially when we get the weekday games. We have to take PTO for a half day on Thursday and full day on Friday. Coordinating where to stay and if we need to board the dog or have friends/family watch him... There's definitely a lot that goes into it.

It's been hard to stay that committed with how bad we've been over the past 5 years. I'm really hoping things are going to change from now on though.

I'm in year four of no season tickets and no donations. Unfortunately, the likelihood I reengage with the University gets slimmer each year. I now have to fly to get to San Marcos, and I haven't planned a Saturday around watching Tx St football in three years. Playing golf then watching the big games on Saturdays has proven to be much more enjoyable than suffering through the masochism of being a Tx St football fan. I truly hope Spav turns things around, but the only thing that will move the needle for me is firing Teis. Even more so if the news of the baseball coaching hire is true. So damn lazy.

I used to make the drive for 4-5 games a year. Had a place to stay with an old roommate in SA which made it easier.
