Baseball to compete in 5th Annual Karbach Round Rock Classic

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Texas State baseball team will be heading up I-35 in 2024 to compete in the 5th Annual Karbach Round Rock Classic. It will take place Feb. 23-25, 2024 at Dell Diamond, home of the Texas Rangers AAA affiliate Round Rock Express, and will see the Bobcats face Kansas, Kentucky and Washington State.

It will be the first time that Texas State will compete in the event. The Bobcats have previously played 22 games at Dell Diamond with the last coming against Texas on Apr. 8, 2008.

First up will be a 6 p.m. contest on Feb. 23 against the Jayhawks. It will be the third-ever meeting between the programs that has seen each team claim a victory and will be the first matchup since 2001 when the teams played in Round Rock. Last season saw the Jayhawks go 25-32 and finish eighth in the Big XII with an 8-16 record.

Saturday’s game will see first pitch at 4 p.m. against the Wildcats and will be the first game ever between the teams. Kentucky posted a 40-21 record this past Spring and advanced to the Baton Rouge Super Regional.

The classic wraps up that Sunday with Texas State facing the Cougars at 4 p.m. The Bobcats hold a 4-3 lead in the all-time series with the last four games coming in the 2016 season opening series in San Marcos. Washington State is coming off a 29-23 season that saw it post a 10-19 mark in the Pac-12.
