TXST Release

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – Junior pitcher Jessica Mullins was invited to play for T.C. Colorado in the 2023 Canada Cup. The tournament will take place July 10-16 in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

“I’m super excited to be playing internationally for the first time in my career with this talented group of girls,” Mullins said. “It was an honor to be chosen and I’m super proud to be able to represent Triple Crown Colorado as well as Texas State University on this trip. I’m looking forward to creating some lifelong friendships and memories. This trip has proven to me that softball can provide more than just a good character, it can give me special experiences that I’ll be able to talk about years from now.”

The Canada Cup is a World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) sanctioned showcase for the top female softball players in the world. There are eight total teams competing including TC Colorado and teams from Australia, Canada, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan and Mexico. The tournament features some of the world’s top teams as they continue development for additional international competitions.

“I’m so incredibly excited for Mullins,” said Texas State Softball Assistant Coach Josh Trevino. “She created this opportunity for herself by her diligence and stellar work ethic. There’s no doubt in my mind she’s going to represent herself and this university with pride and integrity as she goes out there plays against the best of the best.”

This is the first time Mullins will play in the tournament. Mullins and TC Colorado will play seven round-robin style games before being sorted into a playoff style tournament. TC Colorado’s first game will be on July 10th at 6 p.m. against Team Israel.

In the 2022 Canada Cup, T.C. Colorado finished in a three-way tie for first place before losing to Team USA in the Championship game.
