Texas FBS Power Ranking: Week 3

This is the Maroon & Golden Power Rankings for the 12 Texas FBS teams. We will update this throughout the season as we learn more about each team in 2019. This ranking is a purely subjective ranking based on how each team is trending and who we think is better than the next.

Texas – Played Rice in Houston at NRG Stadium. Went up 38-0 before allowing Rice to score in the 4th quarter. Final Score: 48-13 Texas

Texas A&M – Played an FCS team this week. The score was what you would expect. Final Score: 62-3 A&M

Baylor – Bye Week

TCU – Beat a Purdue team that was 1-1 entering the matchup with a loss to Mountain West Nevada. After a close first half, TCU pulled away in the second. Final Score: 34-13 TCU

Texas Tech – Texas Tech held a lead twice including a 14-13 lead heading into the 4th. Unfortunately for Tech, Arizona scored 15 unanswered in the final quarter to secure the win. Final Score: 28-14 Arizona

SMU – SMU looked beatable in the first half against the Bobcats. However, their up tempo offense combined with TXST’s ineffective offense, led to the Mustangs pulling away in the second half for a comfortable win. Final Score: 47-17 SMU

University of Houston – Houston looked good in a game against #20 ranked Washington State. They had a lead or were tied until 7:30 left in the 3rd quarter. Unfortunately, that’s when Washington State took the lead for good. Final Score: 31-24 Washington State

University of North Texas – UNT lost a surprisingly close game to Cal. Unfortunately, after falling behind 20-0 their comeback bid fell just short. Final Score: 23-17 Cal

UTSA – UTSA lost to Army. The game was just a 10 point game heading into the 4th, 17-7. Unfortunately for the Roadrunners, Army outscored them 14-6 in the final quarter. Final Score: 31-13

Texas State – The Bobcats looked solid through the first half. The score was just 13-3 in favor of SMU at the break. The Bobcats even had several opportunities to tie it or make it even closer throughout the half. Unfortunately, the offensive woes continued and the defense got worn down in the second half. Final score: 47-17

Rice – Rice got beat by UT at NRG stadium. The game was never in doubt. Final Score: 48-13

UTEP – Bye Week
