The kid draws positive attention...and lots of positive yardage. He's a force to be considered in the TXST success story. I love watching him create when he gets the rock.
yeah there are some overly serviceable backs in sun belt but why just why was his positive yardage (out of the backfield alone) not enough to be listed as a running back in the sun belt all conference accolade teams. spoiler: he could have been listed as all purpose special team return guy and a running back but he wasnt. 4 rbs out of only 14 teams listed

What point are you trying to make? Are you suggesting he is not a good running back? It just seems to me you are being negative to get a rise out of the posters who are actually fans of txst.

Top 35 College Football Running Backs for 2024
24. Ismail Mahdi - Texas State Bobcats©Provided by SportsGrid
As a sophomore in 2023, Ismail Mahdi averaged six yards per carry with ten touchdowns. He added 275 yards as a pass catcher and scored 11 total touchdowns. The Bobcats play a pass-happy and uptempo offense, but Mahdi had strong games against the best Texas State competition. He had 83 yards on only six carries against Baylor, 216 yards on 21 carries against Nevada, and 128 yards against the Troy Trojans. Mahdi is not a big back, but he’s durable and has proven to be quite capable of consistently stringing together runs of more than 15 yards.

That’s actually lower than I would have placed him (Top 15) with all the talent that graduated or went pro ahead of him. By next year (2025) he could be a Reggie Bush type of weapon for TXST.

No way one earth CJ Baxter is that low, but the Penn State RBs and Donnie Edwards should not be that high on the list. 🤫

Was nice to see Jeet start to fix that dancing behind the line of scrimmage technique towards the back half of the season. Imagine if he had been that effective his entire career.
He was misused his entire career, Leftwhich made the right move making him the short yardage back. He kept a lot of our drives alive.

1. You just said he was used correctly last year so how could he have been misused his "ENTIRE career"?

2. We definitely used him in short yardage situations pre GJ..... He just danced behind the line of scrimmage too much and wasn't very successful. I'd guess Stephens was the difference there

Our o-line was much better last year than years past. Any rb would look better last year than previous years. Also, i am sure he danced less once he gained confidence he could trust his line to create a hole.

At 235lbs, Jeter just didn't run downhill, pretty obvious to most of us who watch the games. He should have been running like Earl Campbell but instead was trying to dance around behind the LOS like Leveon Bell.

What none of us really know: 1) has he always run this way or at one time (HS, OKST), was he 190 lbs and could run the ball effectively without being a downhill runner; and 2) Spav tried to coach him to run downhill but the habits were to hard to break or Spav didn't even try because he's not a great football coach.

Spav played favorites heavily to the team’s detriment. More than a half dozen times I’d see Jeter break 30-40+ yard runs for TDs in practice, but was rarely used in games. He was the type of back that you’d have to hand the ball off repeatedly for him to be successful once he got in a rhythm. But at 236 lbs last year, he became more of a Lendale White player instead.

And he absolutely knew he was a downhill runner, as most of his JR year highlights show. He always went strictly North-South from early on in his career.

yes everyone remembers

Basically use Jeter as a battering 🐏, which is more his running style.
again
You very conveniently omit all the other games from last season where Jeter was useful in battering down defenses that either helped us win
and again

Again, we need you try and use Jeter as a battering 🐏, the only two TD drives we had last season we leaned heavily on him for both.
