Agree. FSU, much like TCU and Max Duggan last year, were mostly a one man show. They would have gotten clobbered in the CFP by any one of those teams who made it in. Even with Jordan Travis, it would have been reminiscent of when FSU played VTech with Michael Vick. An electric player who masked deficiencies in the overall team.
Agree that FSU would struggle against any of the CFP teams (& a majority of NY6 teams).

BUT I don’t think the ‘99 VT team is a good comparison. That was a good football team that beat themselves against FSU. I think the current FSU is comparable to 2013 Louisville.

I would say we'll find out how they are against Georgia but a lot of GA players are going to sit out or have entered the portal.

Funny thing is the Georgia/FSU game is going to be a busy since none of them care. A bunch of players are sitting out and the ones that play will be inexperienced and/or checked out on the year.

When FSU losses everyone will go "See, they didn't deserve a playoff spot"
Beat me to it.

Well, they kinda didn’t if they decide not to play against what used to be the #1 team in the nation. If you believe you deserved to go, make a case for it on the field. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Florida State forfeited the opportunity to play for a national championship when they scheduled weak OOC opponents. They are already in a weak conference so they need to schedule real opponents out of conference to make up for that and they chose not to. Now they are suffering the consequences of their stupid decision. No one wants to see another blowout like Georgia and TCU.

Scheduling North Alabama is like taking that “Magic, Sorcery, and the Occult” fuckoff class at SWT to boost your GPA.
LSU says hold my loss.

Nothing to play for. Making the case or not it won't do them any good.

Not what I would do, just trying to think of today's collegiate athlete

FSU OOC games - LSU (neutral site), Southern Miss, Florida, and North Alabama.

Alabama OOC games - Middle Tennessee, Texas, South Florida, Chattanooga.

Ya FSU wasn’t playing world beaters in non conference games but let’s not act like they had all cream puffs. Take out LSU and Texas and the non conference slate for both FSU & Alabama wasn’t night and day easier than the other.
Alabama can get away with scheduling weak teams OOC because they are NOT in a weak conference. Florida State cannot get away with scheduling weak teams OOC because they ARE in a weak conference.

Even Texas State beat Southern Miss 50-36. When you're in a conference with Wake Forest, Virginia, Pitt, and Syracuse, you can't schedule Southern Miss and North Alabama.

Weak conference compared to the SEC... But not a weak conference.

ACC was just as strong as the big 12, if not stronger. ACC also led the head to head against sec this year. Not saying they were stronger than the SEC, but they competed. SEC is just very top heavy

Bunch of opinions being thrown around and sadly that's been (and always will be) the problem with FBS CFB.
Polls are opinion based; Who gets exposure (ex Colorado) or on TV is opinion based.
Even in the FCS, opinions determine the playoff field when not an automatic bid; teams determined by a selection committee (look at 8-2 UIW being left out).
Until the on-field objectivity is the above all determining factor, then CFB is just going to be subject to brand recognition, ratings and enable the same 4-7 teams year in year out.

By the way -
“Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.”

That’s contradicting yourself. If acc is week and sec isn’t, how is scheduling 2 sec teams a weak OOC? Southern miss is also typically a lot better than they were this year. Also a regional rivalry for FSU, they used to play regularly when they were both independents. That’s like saying none of the “P5” Texas teams should ever schedule us….
