Here is 1 thing to keep in mind in regards to how many Asst. Coaches will return.

Jake seemed to save money by being OC and HC as well as their recruiting budget since they didn't go around Texas recruiting HS as much as other programs did. Didn't update locker rooms (most do this as a priority) but he seemed to rather save money for my guess... coaches salaries.

So what did he do with that money? I'm sure the first thing is hire coaches from his brother, and others including a special team specialist coach (likely wasn't getting that much nor would Feldt as new coaches while others may have gotten more like DB coach). I do wonder that may play a part in any being retained. In other words if say Gamble wants to remain, he likely loses Co-DC (salary) and will have to take a pay cut. Are they willing or going to leave?

Mike O’Guin was partly responsible for getting Tony Bradford to Tech. Love that he has Houston connections at schools like North Shore. Being SHSU’s defensive recruiting coordinator is also a testament to his recruiting ability, which is extremely important for all position coach hires IMO.

If the reason we've not yet seen the DC announced is that he is still coaching a Texas HS playoff team, which head coach would make the most sense (ie, he came up on the defensive side of the ball) and be perceived as a coup for GJ?
  • North Shore
  • DeSoto (Kelly courting?)
  • Aledo
  • Carthage (yes, please)
  • Vandegrift
  • SOC
  • PNG
  • Duncanville
  • College Station
  • dark horse

GJ wouldn't have hired DL coach without having the approval of his DC, I'd assume.

Admittedly I don't know the background of each such HS HC, and the question is designed to help fill otherwise boring off-season.

Anyone with a relationship to North Shore knows how to win and what it takes to win. I saw that on his twitter account and that was all I needed to see. I've seen NS play several times over the past few years and they bring it every time. Recruiting kids from Texas High Schools and you can show them a Texas High School Championship ring brings some cred... I'd expect to see some dudes coming in.

I hope they announce Dodge as QB coach.

Someone from a school like North Shore or other Houston area power would be great too. Get guys with massive high school ties in the different markets of Texas.

I think you are right. So maybe no Dodge after all. I could see Morris going after him and he wouldn't have to move and probably get paid a little more. Plus he would be coaching at his old team.
Good point. I could also see "WR coach / Passing game coordinator" non-sense at TXST if both guys want it to happen, but UNT makes a bit more sense for Dodge.

Haven’t heard anyone mentioning the Leftwich interview on Keff’s cast. Gotta say I’m pretty impressed with the 28 y.o. who talks more like a 40 y.o. soul.

Made it seem like he was pretty content with Rogers under center at face value if he couldn’t find anything more appealing though it did seem like he would be trying to bring in at least 1 more ready to play guy in that spot. Good thing for taxi is he has already started to hedge his never ending Evans endorsement with Rogers lately so it seems like Taxi might win this one with the hedge.
