Well we've finally done it.... we scheduled Liberty.

I'm pretty disappointed that our AD put them on the schedule. The silver lining is that I dont see them coming to San Marcos on the site so we're probably getting a good payday to go there. I think they paid ODU over a million for their first game there.

Come on guys... how many opportunities do think you are going to have to tailgate @ on Saturday game day enjoying a variety of non-alcoholic beer selections!

Yeah, Liberty is a cesspool of sliminess (just look who their AD is). I agree the only thing Texas State agreed to have a game with them is because we are getting paid a shit-ton money

What does everyone know about Liberty that I don't?
So Liberty is a private evangelical Christian school ran by Jerry Farwell Jr. And well there is a lot of controversy surrounding them because they use most the funds given to the school are used by Farwell's family and his close-knit group of friends for their own personal gain (this article explains it better https://www.vox.com/identities/2019/9/13/20857490/jerry-falwell-jr-liberty-university-real-estate-self-dealing-polls-trump). On top of that they hired Ian McCraw as the AD after McCraw got fired for his role in the Baylor sexual assault scandal then hire Hugh Freeze as the football coach after Freeze got fired at Ole Miss for basically daring the NCAA to prove he was paying players (which he was and apparently was using the school phone to hire escort services to entice recruits)

In a nutshell, Liberty stenches of filth and evil and ruin everything they touch

They've basically care more about winning games than morals even though theyre a "Christian" school. They've hired some extremely questionable individuals such as the Baylor AD who oversaw the incidents over there, the Ole Miss head coach who was fired for getting prostitutes, and their president is a huge dbag. And the only reason they can afford FBS is because theyre basically a huge online diploma mill.

Yeah, won't even watch this one.

Don't like Liberty, won't support them in any way, and feel this is a big mistake.

But it is what it is.

I can only imagine the heckling we will get for the whole '666' zip code, when it's their own President who does the bidding of the fallen angel.:LOL:

I'll watch it just because it ****should**** be a beat down of epic proportions, heck.....I might even travel to watch it. I have a Bobcat teammate who lives in the area and it would be nice to catch up with him and his family.

I guess since our AD hasn't announced it they're waiting to announce it with some other future matchups? Or maybe they're just embarrassed? I'm surprised Keff hasn't said anything about it.

What is a reasonable purse for this game?

Liberty will beat us down. They beat Baylor and others and have looked better recently. They pay way more for coaching then we do. They have millions more sports thanks to their diploma mill and tax free money.

When is the last time we beat a team down? Some FCS program not named IWU and HBU.

The Baylor team that they beat that year won like one game and 2 of liberty's 4 wins vs scholarship FCS teams were by 3 or less. You're probably right about them being better than us just based on last season but not because of that weak Baylor win.

Liberty paid ODU 1.3 million to play them, but Liberty also knew that ODU would sellout the stadium so they probably made a lot if not all of it back. I don't think we'll bring many fans to the middle of nowhere in Virginia or be as interesting to a Lib fan.

The game is in 2024 when we host UTSA and ASU. No P5 money game. I bet TXST expects to sellout both those games and ASU will be a premium with $70 tickets. I wouldn't expect Liberty to be a big pay day because as others said, they won't make much on us going there. They may cover travel and that is about it. We needed a road game in 2024 and it didn't need to be a pay day. It also didn't have to be a home and home. This was an simple solution for both schools.

We have to be getting something from a one off game with THAT school though, either a decent payday or a return game that isn't announced for whatever reason. I could see us doing a one off with a G5 if something happened on a short notice and we desperately need a game, but we still have plenty of time until 2024. I took a glance at the future schedules for a few regional teams and La Tech, UTEP, Rice, UNT, NM, Tulsa, UH, all need a home game in 2024, as do UAB, USM, Utah St, and Memphis. If we were going to do a one off away game why not one of them?

Edit: Kansas and OKST have openings too

Why would we ever “need” a road game. Travel will be a logistical cluster. Nothing to be gained from playing this one and just one more example of Fire Larry’s ineptitude.
